Summer is about over when kids head back to school and return to the Kids in the Kitchen and Garden at Grace Lutheran Church. Excited kids were welcomed back on September 17. We visited with Toby, caught up on the summer, made seed balls, picked tomatoes and beans and enjoyed a fresh local vegetable and fruit snack before heading back inside to class.
April 23 school children visited Grace Lutheran Church to learn how to sprout seeds indoors for the permaculture teaching garden, in progress. Messy? Yes, but enjoyed by all. This was followed with fresh baked pita flat bread chips and home made tomatoe and vegetable salsa. Did you know that salsa means sauce? The best part? The healthy samples! Great time enjoyed by all!
February 20 school children enjoyed making their own pizzas, cut vegetables for dipping and made fruit crumble. Lots of fun learning nutrition and good food preparation tips and a bonus excellent snack was enjoyed before heading out, bundled up back to school.
